“I’ve been to Pilates with Julia before at London Sport HQ, so when I heard about the morning rooftop classes, it was an offer I couldn’t refuse!  Julia’s a fantastic teacher and very inspirational.  Her enthusiasm set again the backdrop of a sunrise against London skyline is one of the best ways to start a Friday morning. london-sport-staff-at-coq-dargentI was utterly hooked. We booked out an entire session. It was such a success that we rebooked a few weeks later. Everyone loved the class and raved about Julia’s teaching style. A thoroughly enjoyable and recommended class.”

But, once I’d got myself to the Coq d’Argent rooftop on a warm summer’s morning, I wished I could do Pilates with Julia up there every day! A true escape from London’s morning chaos, I almost skipped to work after every class. Can’t wait for next year.”
Ana Saffer, Account Manager – Grey LondonStaff from Janikin Rooke at Coq D'Argent rooftop Pilates

“Early morning Pilates on the roof at Coq D’Argent was definitely worth getting up for! The setting was fabulous and Julia was excellent at making the class work really well for all levels of abilities.  We rewarded ourselves with a work breakfast after the session and got to work buzzing and energized”.

CiFJpDuXEAAb9uzAbout Workplace Health Week
Workplace Health Week is a campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of exercising during the working day.  The focus of this year’s campaign is to ‘Make a deal’, encouraging employers to ‘make a deal’ with their employees, colleagues and themselves to introduce physical activity to their lunchtime routine.

Did you know?
40% of people in England do not exercise enough.

Lack of exercise contributes to an estimated cost of £14.9 billion to businesses in lost working days.

According to recent research from the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity and Health (BHFNC), employees cited that time was the biggest barrier to exercise and commonly said that a working day and a commute left them feeling tired with little time to exercise in the evening.

To overcome this Workplace Health Week is encouraging employers to focus on flexible working and active lunch breaks to help bring physical activity into and around the working day.

How to fit physical activity into your workplace

Workplace Challenge LondonThe Workplace Challenge is a fantastic initiative to promote sport, physical activity and health improvements in workplaces across the capital. I was delighted to be asked by the organisers London Sport to give some tips for fitting exercise into your working day for their newsletter. Read the full article below.

Do you struggle to find the time or motivation to fit physical activity into your working day? Here are some simple steps to make it easier.

Find a fitness buddy
It’s a lot easier to motivate yourself if you’ve got someone else to encourage you. Ask around at work, involve your team and you’ll have a set of new fitness friends in no time.

Commit to it
Block out an hour in your diary over lunch at least twice a week. Share as a meeting request with your fitness buddy. Go for a pre-lunch fast-paced walk, jog or run.

Plan ahead
Bring in your lunch so you don’t need to waste time queuing for a sandwich!

Remember to have fun
Exercising over lunch with your colleagues is great for team building, plus it can help get rid of the stresses of the morning so you’re ready to face the afternoon ahead.
